Business Computer Applications
Our business and computer applications courses will focus on expanding your knowledge of computers and introduce you to the world of business and marketing. You will learn to use the computer as a tool for everyday use and also in the world of marketing, advertising and entertainment. You will use word processing, spreadsheet, painting and drawing, and communications applications. You will have the opportunity to put these skills to use in a practical desktop publications course. You will also learn how to become responsible and virtuous members of the digital community and consider how to apply virtues when creating websites, learning HTML coding, creating graphic designs, and telling stories.
In our courses, you will study how a product or service is introduced, developed, priced, advertised, and sold in the marketplace. You will discuss business communication, economics, market analysis, product decisions as well as advertising and personal selling, placement decisions from channel of distribution to merchandising, and visual displays, salesmanship, and technology. Personal finance course offers you an opportunity to develop solid financial principals and become good stewards of the material goods at your disposal.
The purpose of our courses is to provide you with the fundamental principles and concepts of critical thinking and decision-making skills through the application of marketing principles in these industries.
All courses are offered as electives.
Applied Computer Technology
This course focuses on the practical aspects of computer technology. Students will explore the modern computer increasing skills in communication, collaboration, problem solving, decision making, and personal productivity. These skills will be achieved through topics such as word processing, electronic spreadsheet, and presentation software, as well as ethical issues relating to technology. This is a MS windows-based course.
Marketing and Advertising
Entertainment Marketing
The purpose of this course is to provide students with the fundamental principles and concepts of sports and entertainment marketing and to develop critical thinking and decision-making skills through the application of marketing principles. A strong base of skills in communication, mathematics, social science, and the arts as well as the specific tasks associated with employment will be included. Successful completion of this course will help students develop knowledge of career opportunities, entry-level skills, and how marketing relates to the sports and entertainment industries. Students will also develop and utilize skills required to produce an actual sports and entertainment event.
Personal Finance
Personal Finance is a semester class that will cover the topics of money management, borrowing, earning power, investing, financial services, and insurance. The goal of the class is to prepare students to make wise decisions about purchases, savings, and investments at every stage of life. Real-world situations will be utilized in all lessons, with a strong faith integration of God’s plan for our personal finances.
