Why FGR
“FGR remembers that the ultimate goal is heaven while preparing students to make an impact on this world in the meantime.”

Academic Excellence
Father Gabriel Richard High School students are successful in college and beyond because they learn the skills they need to take charge of their futures. Informed by Catholic Intellectual Tradition, in which faith and reason are employed in the search for truth and understanding of all subjects, our students grapple with challenging ideas and concepts. At FGR, you will form your intellect through hands-on experiences, especially in the sciences, and work together with classmates to develop the valuable skill of team collaboration, which will serve you well in life.
Our curriculum incorporates the faith into all courses of study while making real-world connections in learning, fostering development of critical thinking skills, and providing a solid foundation with a Christian worldview.
In addition to college preparatory and honors classes, we also offer 12 AP courses which will further challenge and prepare you well for college coursework. Our test scores on the AP Exams routinely prove our students’ mastery of these subjects.
Intentional Discipleship
Opportunities to learn, celebrate, and practice our faith include four years of theology class, twice weekly All-school Mass, daily Mass available to all before school, weekly Confession times, and semi-annual Penance Days during Advent and Lent. This access to the sacraments will help you grow in your relationships with God and your classmates and teachers.
Service opportunities to put Catholic Social Teachings into practice include Faith in Flint outreach, Special Olympics Field Day, and Stadium Cleanup. These experiences will help you to develop a heart for service and a deeper sense of community.
Creativity
FGR produces two concerts and four full-scale theatrical productions each year, while also participating in state and competitions. You will gain confidence and poise which will carry over into all aspects of your life, allowing you to take on challenges with grace. Additionally, our visual arts department offers nine visual arts courses. At FGR, God-given talents are discovered, nurtured, and developed in a faith-filled environment. Sportsmanship
With 43 teams in 29 sports, FGR students of diverse athletic ability have opportunities to participate. You will be challenged to work toward your personal best for the good of the team in a positive and encouraging environment. Teamwork will help you develop athletic abilities and personal character on and off the field. Click here for more information about athletics at FGR.
