This January, the Learning Resource Center (LRC) announced its name change to the Academic Services Center (ASC). The program offers a variety of support services to students who have a wide range of learning differences and works with parents and teachers to help students thrive in our academic curriculum. Mrs. Jaclyn Manor, head of the Center, explains that they chose to change their name to the Academic Support Center because “the word ‘resource’ can reflect that we have an alternative curriculum or are teaching something different.” Instead, the Center’s staff are focused on “supporting the students in the general education program.” Though the name has changed, the goal of the Academic Support Center remains the same: to help students thrive in the general curriculum and to help each student achieve excellence.
