“FGR remembers that the ultimate goal is heaven while preparing students to make an impact on this world in the meantime.”
– Nate Schoenle ’16, University of Michigan Ross School of Business ’20, Wide Receiver for the Michigan Wolverines
Father Gabriel Richard High School students are outperforming their peers on ACT and AP tests. The composite ACT score for the FGR class of 2018 was 26.6 compared to a national average of 20.8. Our students outperformed the state and national averages in each subject area. In fact, our scores are on an upward trend, even as national scores and benchmarks fall.
Our AP students are also showing stellar results with 86% achieving a 3 or higher on AP exams across the curriculum. This is compared to the state average of 65%. FGR currently offers 16 AP courses in mathematics, English, World and Classical Languages, sciences, art, and economics.
Our teachers strive to incorporate the faith into all courses of study while making real-world connections in learning, fostering development of critical thinking skills, and providing a solid foundation with a Christian world-view.
Opportunities to learn, celebrate, and practice our faith include four years of theology class, weekly All-School Mass, daily Mass available to all students during lunchtime, weekly Confession times, and semi-annual Penance Days during Advent and Lent. This access to the sacraments helps students grow in their relationships with God and one other.
Service opportunities to put Catholic Social Teachings into practice include Faith In Flint outreach, Special Olympics Field Day, and Stadium Clean-up. These experiences help students to develop hearts for service and a deeper sense of community. Explore the Faith & Service tab on our home page to learn more.
FGR produces three concerts and four full-scale theatrical productions, as well as participating in state and national competitions each year. Additionally, our visual arts department offers nine visual arts courses. At FGR, God-given talents are discovered, nurtured, and developed in a faith-filled environment.
